By-laws are ordinances made by the members of a corporation or association
for the better government of their own body, or for the regulation of their
dealings with the public or other bodies (Oxford English Dictionary).
The S.G.A. by-laws are passed by the Student Senate to set rules and
standards for their internal operations as well as to govern the student
clubs and organizations to which they allocate money.
The S.G.A. by-laws deal fall deal with three issues: student body
elections, club/organization operations, and financial regulations.

Standard Student Elections Operating Procedures (S.S.E.O.P)
Elections are the fabric of any democratic governing body. The
S.G.A. is, therefore, committed to ensuring the legitimacy and credibility of
our elections. The S.S.E.O.P. contains the rules and procedures
intended to achieve those goals by facilitating free, fair, and efficient
elections.

Standard Financial Operating Procedures (S.F.O.P.)
The S.G.A. is charged with managing almost $700,000 each year, and we take
this responsibility very seriously. The S.F.O.P. establishes the
guidelines and restrictions relating to requests for, and the use of, S.G.A.
monies.

Standard Student Club Operating Procedures (S.S.C.O.P.)
Student clubs and organizations are an essential part of campus life at
Adelphi. The S.G.A. governs many of those clubs and organizations, and
the SSCOP, specifically, contains the regulations related to their
operations.
The current S.G.A. is committed to creating an environment in which clubs and
organizations are given the independence necessary for success while being
held accountable for their use of the student activities fees that they
receive. The S.S.C.O.P. is the foundation of club activities and
S.G.A.-club relations.

Attendance Policy
The attendance policy was passed by the Student Senate during the 2005 spring
semester. The policy outlines the number of absences permitted for
members of the S.G.A. each semester, and the process followed when a member
violates the attendance regulations.
